KUCHING, April 8 (Bernama) -- Sarawak-owned television station, TVS, under its parent company, Sarawak Media Group (SMG), is set to have its own building by 2027.
Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the building, to be constructed on a site near the Baitul Makmur Building in Petra Jaya, would be equipped with state-of-the-art broadcasting infrastructure, enabling TVS to deliver international-level coverage.
“We will be hosting the 2027 SEA Games, and TVS will be the broadcaster covering the events in Sarawak. That is why we hope the building will be completed with the necessary facilities to provide live broadcasts to the participating countries in the SEA Games,” he told reporters at an Aidilfitri event organised by TVS here today,
He said the Sarawak government took the initiative to establish the television station five years ago as an investment to nurture local talent in the creative industry.
“We know many of our young people have pursued Mass Communication degrees at various universities, and naturally, we want a platform for them to showcase and introduce their creativity,” he added.
