SHAH ALAM, April 5 (Bernama) -- Selangor's MADANI Aidilfitri Open House, scheduled to be held tomorrow, has been cancelled out of respect for the victims of the gas pipeline disaster at Putra Heights, Subang Jaya.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the decision had also received the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

“All preparations, including food, will be channelled to the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) (at Putra Heights), orphanages, boarding schools and security personnel.

“On behalf of the state government, I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this cancellation, which is made out of respect for the victims and their families affected by the Putra Heights disaster,” he said in a post on his official Facebook page today.

Amirudin also expressed his appreciation to the task force and organisers who had worked tirelessly for the celebration.

“I deeply appreciate the mutual understanding shown for the greater good... may Allah SWT bless all our efforts in standing in solidarity to assist the victims and all those affected,” he said.
