JOHOR BAHRU, April 3 (Bernama) -- A temporary evacuation centre has been opened in Johor following a flash flood in Kampung Tengah Renggam, Kluang today.
State Disaster Management Committee chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani said the centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Sri Renggam was opened at 9 am, with 75 victims from 30 families housed there.
He added that heavy rain, which began at midnight and lasted until early this morning, caused the affected area to be inundated.
"As of 4 pm, only the Kampung Tengah Renggam area is still affected by the flash flood, with 75 victims.
"Meanwhile, several districts are reported to be cloudy this afternoon, including Muar, Mersing, Segamat, Kluang, Batu Pahat and Kota Tinggi,” he said in a statement today.
