KPDN POSTPONES ENGINE OIL LABELLING ENFORCEMENT BY SIX MONTHS

PUTRAJAYA, 11 April (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has agreed to postpone the enforcement of engine oil labelling by six months.

Its enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said the decision was made after receiving feedback and requests from engine oil-related associations and industry players about technical limitations in complying with the order, especially the difficulty of finishing the supply of engine oil distributed and currently available on the local market.

“As such, the ministry has agreed to postpone the enforcement of this order by six months starting from the original date of enforcement of April 7, 2025.

The ministry urges industry players to take necessary measures to ensure that the engine oil sold in local markets have compliance labels accredited by SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd (SIRIM) by Oct 7, 2025,” he said in a statement today.

He added that after the period ends, stern action will be taken on any importer, distributor or seller that sells unaccredited products without valid labels from SIRIM, and any incorporation found guilty of violating the order can be fined no more than RM200,000 while individuals will be subject to no more than RM100,000 or no more than three years in jail or both if found guilty.
