MELAKA, April 9 (Bernama) -- The Melaka Road Transport Department (JPJ) received 183 complaints regarding traffic offences committed by road users during the Integrated Operation held in conjunction with the 2025 Hari Raya Aidilfitri Special Operation (Op Khas HRA) from March 24 to April 7.

Melaka JPJ deputy director Khairul Aswad Abdul Halim said the complaints involved seven major offences: driving on the emergency lane (77 complaints), queue cutting (36), disobeying traffic signals (34), overtaking on double lines (17), not wearing seat belts or helmets (nine), use of dark tinted windows (six) and mobile phone use while driving (four).

All complaints were submitted through the MyJPJ application, which included information and evidence of the offence, such as photos or videos, location, date and time of the incident.

"Complaints received through the MyJPJ app will be screened, and further investigation will be conducted based on the evidence and information provided.

"Notices will be issued to road users found committing the offences, no later than 72 hours after the complaint is received," he told reporters during the Integrated Operation held in conjunction with Op Khas HRA 2025 at Lebuh AMJ (Alor Gajah–Melaka Tengah–Jasin) in Bukit Piatu here last night.

He said the most reported offence — driving on the emergency lane — was frequently recorded at Lebuh AMJ near the Pulau Gadong-Cheng junction, Jalan Tun Razak in Ayer Keroh, and Lebuh SPA (Sungai Udang–Paya Rumput–Ayer Keroh).

He added that 20,797 vehicles were inspected and 2,380 notices were issued for various traffic offences throughout the Integrated Operation.

Khairul Aswad said the most common offences recorded were related to vehicle licensing (1,003), technical issues such as vehicle modifications, dark tints and number plates (237), driver licensing (476) and overloading (94).

During the operation, 37 vehicles — comprising 21 motorcycles, nine cars and seven commercial vehicles — were seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"Of the 37 seized vehicles, 26 involved motorcycles, cars and lorries driven by foreigners, including those from Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan and Rohingya nationals.

"The offences committed by these foreigners included driving without a licence, expired motor vehicle licences, and vehicles without insurance coverage," he said.
