KOTA BHARU, April 4 (Bernama) -- A total of 467 summons notices for various offences were issued to bus drivers by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) during the Op Hari Raya (Op HRA) 2025 since March 24.
JPJ Senior Director of Enforcement Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said that during the period, 245 undercover operations were carried out and 198 summons notices were issued to errant bus drivers.
The summons notices were issued mostly for using a mobile phone while driving and driving for more than four hours without a second driver, he told reporters after Op HRA 2025 at the Lembah Sireh Bus Terminal, here yesterday.
He said a total of 8,173 buses at 54 depots and 28 main terminals nationwide were inspected during g the operation.
"The implementation of continuous monitoring and inspection activities on bus operations is to ensure the smooth running of public transport services and improve road safety," he said.
He said JPJ also collaborated with the National Anti-Drug Agency to carry out urine screening tests on bus drivers.
"A total of 947 bus drivers were tested, with two drivers failing the screening test after they were found positive for Methamphetamine and Syabu,” he said.
