SIBU, May 13 (Bernama) -- Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has praised Rimbunan Hijau Group (RH Group) for its enduring contributions to both the state and national economies as well as its strong alignment with Sarawak’s vision for sustainable and inclusive growth.

He acknowledged the group’s role in shaping Sarawak’s economic landscape over the decades, highlighting its contributions not just in business but also in employment creation, community empowerment, and projecting Sarawak’s capabilities on the global stage.

“Rooted deeply in Sarawak soil, RH Group has blossomed, creating countless opportunities for our people and empowering families across the nation.

“You have not only built a successful enterprise but have also built livelihoods and futures for so many,” he said.

His text of speech was read by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Sim Kui Hian, who represented him at the official launch of the new facade and interior renovations of Menara Rimbunan Hijau to commemorate the group’s 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary here today.

Abang Johari said the event is more than a structural transformation but stands as a powerful symbol of RH Group’s ongoing commitment to innovation, progress, and excellence in both business and nation-building.

The premier also recognised the company as a key partner in supporting government policy objectives, especially social sustainability and community development.

Linking the renovation initiative to the state’s broader developmental goals, Abang Johari reiterated his vision for Sarawak’s economic transformation, projecting a gross domestic product growth of over five per cent in 2025.

He said the state’s RM15.8 billion development allocation is a strong signal of its intent to enhance infrastructure, invest in green technology, and drive digital innovation.

“I am heartened to see RH Group playing an active role in this journey through continuous reinvestment and modernisation, which mirrors the development momentum we are building across Sarawak,” he said.

Highlighting Sarawak’s ambition to become the ASEAN powerhouse for clean energy, the premier spoke about plans to generate up to 15 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2035, including hydro, solar, and hydrogen-based sources.

He commended the group for its alignment with the state’s green economy agenda.

“RH Group’s forward-thinking upgrades reflect the values of sustainability and responsibility that we are promoting,” he added.
