KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) -- Ferrotec Holdings Corporation, a global supplier of materials, components and precision system solutions, has launched its second high-tech manufacturing facility in Kulim, Kedah, with an investment of nearly RM1 billion (US$226 million).
Ferrotec’s second Kulim facility will span nearly one million square feet across 8.09 hectares, housing more than 700 computer numerical control (CNC) machines, smart production lines, internet of things-enabled systems and predictive maintenance capabilities – in line with Industry 4.0 standards.
Scheduled for completion within a year, the facility is expected to generate over 1,000 high-value jobs and significantly enhance Ferrotec’s precision manufacturing capacity for semiconductor components.
Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said Ferrotec’s continued expansion underscores Malaysia’s standing as a premier destination for high-tech investment in the semiconductor sector.
"This commitment not only reflects investor confidence in our policies, infrastructure, and talent but also reinforces our ambition to become a regional leader in advanced manufacturing.
"We look forward to even greater collaboration as Malaysia advances its New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 and fosters innovation-driven, sustainable growth," he said in a statement.
According to the statement, the expansion aligns with Malaysia’s NIMP 2030 and Kedah’s E10 initiative, both aimed at positioning the country as a regional hub for advanced manufacturing and digital transformation.
Ferrotec’s groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Invest Kedah chief operating officer Noor Ikhsan Bin Abdul Aziz, MIDA Kedah director Mohd Rushdan Mohd Ghazali, Ferrotec HangZhou president Bao You Wei, and Ferrotec Holdings Corporation group chief executive officer and president He Xian Han.
