KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) -- Global climate solutions provider, 3Degrees has announced the appointment of Philippe Vedrenne as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective May 1.

Vedrenne takes over from outgoing CEO and Co-founder, Steve McDougal, who will step down after leading the company for a decade. McDougal will remain involved as a member of the company’s Board of Directors.

“Philippe brings global leadership experience and a strong record in decarbonisation. We are confident he will lead 3Degrees through its next phase of growth,” said its Co-founder and Chair of the Board, Dan Kalafatas in a statement.

Meanwhile, Vedrenne expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating he looked forward to expanding the company’s market presence and furthering its climate impact.

Reflecting on his tenure, McDougal said leading 3Degrees had been one of his greatest privileges and expressed confidence in Vedrenne’s leadership as the company continues to grow globally.

Vedrenne brings more than 20 years of experience in the global energy market. He previously served with Engie, overseeing electricity and gas trading and retail activities in the Americas and also played a key role in advancing utility-scale renewable energy solutions for corporate clients.

Vedrenne began his career at Gaz de France in Europe, contributing to the establishment of Gasely, now Engie Global Markets, where he eventually served as CEO.

His efforts in Europe included renegotiating natural gas supply contracts and supporting energy security initiatives, particularly in Ukraine following the 2014 conflict.

Prior to relocating to the United States in 2021, Vedrenne led Engie’s renewable power purchase agreement strategy in Europe and directed the company’s net-zero carbon initiative aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2045.
