Bin Zayed International Acquires 28.89 Pct Stake In Turiya

KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 (Bernama) -- Global investment conglomerate Bin Zayed International Group of Companies (BZI), through its Singapore entity Bin Zayed (S) Pte Ltd, has acquired a substantial 28.89 per cent stake in Malaysian firm Turiya Bhd, listed on Bursa Malaysia.

In a statement today, BZI said the acquisition, finalised on March 26, involved the purchase of 66.08 million ordinary shares from Khidmat Kejora Sdn Bhd, making Bin Zayed (S) one of Turiya’s largest shareholders.

Bin Zayed International (M) Bhd managing director Datuk Seri Dr Shamir Kumar Nandy said the deal is significant as it reflects the company’s confidence in Turiya’s potential and demonstrates BZI's commitment to the long-term prospects of Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian economies.

“As part of our broader strategy, we are focused on identifying and nurturing companies that align with our core values: sustainable growth, forward-thinking leadership, and business models that meet both commercial and societal needs.

“This acquisition is an important step in that journey and signals our continued belief in Southeast Asia as a global centre for opportunity,” he said.

BZI added that the acquisition aligns closely with its investment strategy across six high-impact sectors, which include real estate, sustainable and renewable energy, infrastructure and government concessions, technology, and financial services.

“This move will strengthen our global position while opening new avenues for synergy and regional expansion. Turiya’s strong fundamentals and presence in future-facing sectors make it an ideal partner as BZI deepens its regional operations,” it added.

The UAE-headquartered conglomerate has been strategically expanding its presence in the region, having formally established offices in both Singapore and Malaysia last year.

Its Malaysian office, located at Kuala Lumpur's iconic Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), is projected to anchor more than US$2 billion (US$1=RM4.42) in investments over the next five years, targeting high-potential sectors such as technology, renewable energy, infrastructure, and real estate.
